HK Kejriwal Young Artist Award 2016

The HK Kejriwal Young Artist Awards were initiated in the year 1988 in Chitrakala Parishath to discover and promote young artists in the country. The awards are annually announced in association with Mahua Art Gallery, Bangalore with four awardees below 40 years of age, receiving cash prize by the HK Kejriwal Foundation and an opportunity to exhibit their works and be promoted by Mahua Art Gallery.
The HK Kejriwal Foundation is a non-profit, educational organization established in 1970 by Dr. Hari Kishore Kejriwal, a well-known art philanthropist and an art collector.
In recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of art and culture, Dr. Kejriwal was felicitated with the Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Roerich Institute, Moscow (October 2007). He is also a member in the Advisory Boards of many prestigious art institutions in the country including Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (Bangalore), Rabindra Bharati University (Santiniketan), Birla Academy of Art and Culture (Kolkata), Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore. He is also the patron and advisor to Mahua Art Gallery.
A successful businessman, Dr. Kejriwal always possessed a deep passion for art. Besides inheriting a vast collection of art from his father Shri. Ramkumar Kejriwal, Dr. Kejriwal has himself been an avid collector of art since 1945. His personal collection of modern and contemporary Indian art spans over a century. The collection holds valuable antiquities of ancient Indian art including sculptures, numismatics, paper, palm manuscripts, archives and textiles, some dating back to 3rd Century BC.
Dr. Kejriwal is the co-founder and vice-president of Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore’s premiere art institute. He has donated part of his personal collection of contemporary and modern Indian art to the 20,000 square feet HK Kejriwal Museum housed in Chitrakala Parishath. The collection is showcased in the following museum galleries :-
Bengal School and Contemporary Indian Art Gallery has works of the following eminent artists: Rabindranath Tagore, Jamini Roy, Amrita Shergill, A.R. Chughtai, N.S. Bendre, Ram Kumar, Akbar Padamsee, F.N. Souza, K.G. Subramanyam, S.H. Raza, K.K. Hebbar, P.T. Reddy, Chintamoni Kar, S.G. Vasudev, Anjolie Ela Menon, Yusuf Arakkal and others.
Sculpture Gallery has works of Ramkinkar Baji, Meera Mukherjee, Somenath Hore and others.
Folk Art Gallery has works of Jangarh Singh Shyam, Jamuna Devi, Man Singh Bhai Rathwa, Venkat Raman Singh and others.
