EGG TEMPERA - THE TECHNIQUE Egg Tempera is a technique used by ancient artists of Babylonia, Mycenaean Greece, and China. Tempera paintings decorate gravestones in Egypt, early Christian catacombs and altarpieces in Byzantine churches. Tempera is basically a mix of egg yolk and water in varying proportions.
